I purchased the PA 100W kit on Aliexpress for my QRP X1M transceiver.
This is exactly what I’m talking about:
This PA works quite nice from 80m up to 10m, but higher band means a little less output power(expected behaviour). This kind of PA kit has two big imperfections:
- Lack of TX/RX switching
- Manufacturer provides it with LPF just for one band
In case of 1st issue, I had to build such TX/RX driven switch on my own. What is more, I had to equip my QRP TRX (X1M) with external PA driver (please find my another project about it). The second issue is only about multi-band transceiver. In case of mono-band, Low-Pass filter just for one band is enough. In my case, I used LPF-PCB from Huzarek TRX and build LPF filters for demanded bands(80-20m) with this one.
Currently, you can find well developed version of this KIT on Ali (onboard Tx/Rx switch with relay and so). I strongly recommend not to purchase this one if you’re in the beginning of Ham Radio fun 🙂
